Younger School-age
Pre -K (4–5 years old)
It’s their final year of preschool, and we’re here to prepare them for what comes next!
In our pre-K classrooms, vibrant artwork and writing adorn the walls, showcasing the children’s creativity and progress. We use labels throughout the room to reinforce letter and word connections, and family photos are prominently displayed, reflecting the diverse community we proudly support.
At Kiddie City, safety is our top priority, creating a secure environment for children and peace of mind for families. Visit our health and safety page to learn more.

Take a Peek Inside Our Classrooms!
Explore how we design our classroom to suit the learning and developmental needs of prekindergartners. Each area is thoughtfully arranged to support their growth.
Encouraging Social Skills
Preparing for kindergarten involves enhancing social skills. Children work on expressing their emotions, resolving conflicts with words, and learning about themselves and their peers. They discuss their families, discover commonalities, and appreciate differences.
Writing the ABCs
In pre-K, children practice writing their names and recognize their work displayed around the room. We focus on the ABCs, incorporating letters and drawings to explore people, places, experiences, and feelings.
Hands-On Learning
Prekindergarten is a time for exploration and discovery. Our classroom is filled with interactive activities that engage children in hands-on learning. From science experiments and math games to creative arts and building projects, each activity is designed to spark curiosity and foster a love of learning.
Circle Time
Each day begins with group time, where prekindergartners come together to discuss the day's plans or listen to a story. This time also includes child-directed activities, such as math, literacy, and small-group projects.
Meals and Snacks
During meals and snacks, students enjoy balanced, nutritious foods like fresh fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. We focus on providing healthy options, steering clear of juice and fried foods.
Outdoor Playtime
Outdoor playtime is an essential part of their day, with our students spending 20–30 minutes outside at least twice daily. They explore, run, and use their imagination in the fresh air, which helps them stay active and engaged.
Inside a Prekindergartner’s Day
Our prekindergarten classrooms follow a structured daily rhythm to provide a sense of stability and routine. Each day includes group time, outdoor play, and nutritious meals. Whether they're engaging in creative activities or participating in group discussions, your child will experience a balanced mix of learning and fun.

Curriculum
In pre-K, your child will build on their knowledge in language, math, science, Spanish, and social skills. We adapt our teaching to each child's needs, ensuring that all abilities, including English-language learners, progress at their own pace.
Building Brainpower and Strong Bodies
Prekindergartners dive into concepts like addition, subtraction, and basic science experiments. They develop cognitive skills through engaging activities and enjoy at least two hours of movement daily to stay active and healthy.
Being a Good Friend and Solving Problems Together
Children learn to resolve conflicts using words and practice kindness and respect. By discussing themselves and their families, they develop an appreciation for diversity and learn to value each other's differences and similarities.
Making Up Stories and Writing Their Names
Kids explore storytelling with clear beginnings, middles, and ends. They practice writing as a form of expression, working on everything from their full names to basic letters.
Making Art and Playing Music
Creative expression flourishes in pre-K! Children engage in various art forms, follow multi-step instructions for movement activities, and play instruments, inventing their own songs along the way.
Classroom Activities
Every day, our creative teachers engage older toddlers in activities that are perfect for their age and stage of development. Here are a few examples::
-
Exploring U.S. States - Children journal about states they have visited or lived in, and discuss their experiences. They also investigate shapes on state and U.S. flags, learning about both two- and three-dimensional forms.
-
Discovering Natural Patterns - Outdoor exploration is key as kids use natural items like leaves, rocks, and twigs to create simple to complex patterns, enhancing their understanding of pattern recognition.
-
Parking Cars - Kids match toy cars to numerals drawn in parking spaces on paper. They park the cars in the correct spaces based on the numerals called out by their teacher, combining number recognition with motor skills.
